This presentation introduces a behavior analytic reconceptualization of sensory stimulation as observable and measurable environmental events that influence behavior through contact with sensory stimuli. The session will examine how sensory variables function as antecedents, consequences, and motivating operations within behavior analytic frameworks. Participants will explore how sensory stimulation can be operationalized within assessment and treatment planning without exceeding scope of practice.

The presenter will introduce the Sensory Preference Assessment, a behavior analytic screening tool designed to identify sensory preferences, aversions, and regulation patterns to guide intervention planning and interdisciplinary referral decisions. Emphasis will be placed on ethical, assent-based, and function-driven implementation of sensory supports across clinical and community settings.
